Colour consultation

Choose your colour in your own garden

A small sample on a screen can't tell you how a board will look against your brick, your fence and your lawn. So we bring full-size boards to you.

Four composite board samples in light grey, mid grey, walnut and charcoal on a table

The colours

Four families to start from

  • Light grey

Fresh and modern. Stays coolest in full sun and makes small gardens feel bigger.

  • Mid grey

The most popular choice in Newcastle. Sits well with red brick and render alike.

  • Walnut brown

Warm and closest to timber. Lovely with green planting and stone.

  • Charcoal

Bold and smart, especially with glass or black balustrades. Warms up more in strong sun.

How the consultation works

It happens at your survey. We lay full-length boards in a few colours where the deck will go, look at them with you in daylight, and talk about how the garden faces, how much shade it gets and what's around it.

We'll also show you the difference between standard and capped boards, and the fascia and step options, so the whole deck matches.

Questions people ask

Will my composite deck fade?

All outdoor surfaces mellow a little in the first months. Capped boards are made to hold their colour far better than older or uncapped composites, which is one reason we suggest them for sunny gardens.

Can I mix two colours?

Yes. A darker border with a lighter main deck, or contrasting steps, can look very smart. We'll lay them side by side at the consultation.
