What does composite decking cost?

Every garden is different, so every deck is quoted after a survey. These rough ranges will help you plan before you ask.

Guide prices only, not a quote or offer. Your price depends on size, height, access and the board range you choose. Prices include the frame, boards, fixings, labour and taking away our waste; your price is fixed on your written quote after the survey.

What moves the price

Height and ground

A raised deck needs more frame, posts and fascia than one at ground level. Sloping or soft ground, or old concrete to break out, adds time.

The boards

Capped boards with a tougher shell and deeper grain cost more than standard ranges, and last better in shade and under trees.

Shape and details

Curves, diagonal boards, built-in seating, planters, balustrades and lighting all add to the job. Straight, rectangular decks are the best value.

Access

If everything has to come through the house, we plan for it. A side gate or back lane makes the job quicker.

Questions people ask

Is composite decking more expensive than timber?

At the start, yes, often by a third or more. Composite doesn't need staining or oiling and won't rot or splinter, so over the life of the deck many people find it costs about the same or less.

Do you charge for the survey?

No. The survey and colour consultation are free, and there's no obligation to go ahead.

Why give ranges instead of exact prices?

Two 20m² decks can be very different jobs. One is flat and easy to reach; the other is raised, on a slope, with everything through the house. A survey means your price is right first time and won't change.
